~ On Saturday I hosted a macaron workshop for ladies wanting to learn how to make these tricky, temperamental cookies. A lovely, fun day and it was such a pleasure to be able to put faces to the names of the 9 ladies who attended. Since with Macarons you are always learning what affects these buggers and the results, we learnt more on that day as well.
~ At the end of last month I attended the Wonderkids mothers social. A lovely, glittery evening with a 5 course dinner as well as an abaya showcasing and speakers highlighting what has been happening in Palestine. The evening had all the attendees dressed elegantly in evening wear and it was such a wonderful feeling to kick back and enjoy a totally women’s only function.
~ On the subject of Palestine and Syria, the Reservoir Hills Islamic Centre also held a fundraiser last month. The aim was to raise a million rands or more on the day for both places. The Al Imdaad foundation had speakers and videos highlighting the tragedies and they also crossed over live to Gaza to chat to a lady living there. I took a table selling dec.a.dent and part of the proceeds went towards the fundraiser while other parts of the proceeds are still going towards the charity I chose to support when launching my book- The Little Hearts Orphanage. A copy of dec.a.dent was auctioned at the Reservoir Hills function and another copy was sent to Johannesburg for the Guji girl / CII fundraiser held not too long ago.
