Saturday the 1st of November saw dec.a.dent, the recipe book which I recently published, officially launch in Johannesburg. The launch was incorporated in a high tea, which seems to be fast becoming the Vanilla Sugar trademark. Moemas, a coffee shop / patisserie in Parktown North who make an amazing array of decadent treats and also have an intimate venue for hire which is called Mini Moemas became the venue of choice. Located a down the road from the main patisserie, it was the ideal setting for an afternoon get together and high tea launch with both Barbara and Angie ( the manageress and her helper ) going all out for me.
The afternoon began with a welcome done by a special MC- one of my dear sisters, who put aside her overwhelming nervousness for public speaking and obliged me by being MC for the day. I then demoed the techniques to making the temperamental French Macaron and we thereafter relaxed and indulged in the treats provided by Moemas.
Then came the mini auction where a newly made friend mastered the art of auctioneering the sponsored hampers which were kindly and generously sponsored by Stashy’s Distributors in Fordsburg as well as the team at Bake It Yourself. On auction we also had a jar of Macarons by myself as well as 2 aprons from my newly launched retro styled apron collection- a collection made up of just 15 pieces with each one being completely unique to the other.
The auction yielded such generosity by the amazing ladies and all proceeds will be donated to The Little Hearts foundation, a foundation who also receive proceeds of each dec.a.dent book sold.
Since pictures speak louder than words, here are some shots of the dec.a.dent launch.
